"I bought this because it was cute and also would be quiet. For my purposes it doesn't really matter that the timers aren't accurate. I tested them twice: The 1:00 minute timer was 0:59/1:11. The 3:00 minute timer was 2:50/3:04. The 5:00 minute timer was 5:21/4:47. If one is making tea, the accuracy wouldn't be crucial. And it is cute :)"
"From previous experience with my older daughter, time outs were more difficult to enforce when they didn't have a concept of time. I thought this would be perfect for my 2nd daughter when she gets to that stage because she can watch the sand as an indicator of time. Also, with the different increments it'll be perfect as she gets older and needs longer time outs. I'm sure it works for eggs too but I have more nefarious purposes in mind. :)"
